I Guess I'm Big, Ugly And Going To SXSW.

I am so gosh darn excited about this that I have rainbows coming out of my eyeballs, and it's not just the acid talking.

We are truly jazzed to announce that we'll be partnering with the glittering, glorious I Guess I'm Floating to bring you KILLER TOFU, the bombest, free-ist, funnest South By Southwest shindig around:

It's all going down on Friday, March 18 at Lipstick 24 (606 E. 7th St., just off Red River) in Austin, Texas, and all you need to get in the door is yourself — no wristbands, no badges, no funny business.

On the IGIF-curated indoor stage, a handful of phenomenal bands will be playing, including Kisses, who will be performing their only show of all of SXSW. And, on the outdoor, Big Ugly Yellow Couch-curated stage (that's us!), we've gotten Oh Land, Hooray For Earth, High Highs, BRAHMS and Aislyn, all bands we love that we've also had the pleasure of recording Couch Sessions with.

Check out the lil' vids we've shot with the outdoor stage bands below, RSVP on ye olde Facebook and get stoked, mofos. It's going to be....insane.

South By South Land.

We're not very good at keeping secrets 'round these parts, so we're just gonna start spilling the beans. (And maybe make a lentil-y beany soup later.)

We're going to South By Southwest!
And we're having a showcase!
And it's open to all!

Every man, woman, child, alien, cat, dog, kanagroo, intern, and toddler, but try not to bring the type of toddler that would cry, only the type that wear those cute kid headphones and make spit bubbles in a painfully adorable way.

The full fun-time lineup and venue will be announced sooner than you can say "next week, probably", but after seeing this video, I couldn't keep this one in my ladypants any longer.

That's right — the lovely, annoyingly beautiful, hilariously goofy, fantastic OH LAND will be headlining our super silly showcase on Friday, March 18 in Austin. Get those boots and beer-holding hands ready, because it's going to be a blastyblast.

Stay tuned for more details, but if you're bursting with as much excitement as we are, check out a video from our Couch Session, and some the lovely lady made herself:

SEE YOU THERE

Two ARMS, No Less.

It's like a live residency video bonanza up in here, but with songs like these, we're not complaining in the least. Sir Donald shot these at last week's show, and from the amount of times he claims to be listening to these videos, take a clicky click, stat.

We were lucky enough to actually have ARMS stop by over the weekend to record their second couch session with us (you should be as excited as a kid about to get a drop-in from the tooth fairy over this one, no jokes or hyuck hyucks about it), and we couldn't stress more how much you gotta bust a move to see them at their last two Pianos shows, tonight and next Wednesday. I'll be on a plane to the other half of the country and am crushed that I can't make it there to bebop along, so take it from someone who can't go and...go.

Luckily, I'll be able to console myself with an in-flight cheese plate.

Le sigh.

(Et le fromage.)

Twice As Nice.

When I was little, I would read Choose Your Own Adventure books like they were candy crack and I was in need of attending a Betty Ford Rehab Clinic for Tots. So many options, so many rope bridges that end up having pits of flesh-eating snakes beneath them, so many ways for a nerdy child to die by page.

Sigh. Those were the days.

But! Adults have choices, too. Like how I'm not going to sleep until I die. Or how I chose to eat a 1/2 pound chocolate chip cookie yesterday for lunch. Sure, not all choices are good ones, but dag nabit, we like having them! So, we're letting you make a decision, too.

Donald shot Yellow Ostrich performing "Mary" at the first night of their February Pianos residency, curated by the lovely gentlemen over at I Guess I'm Floating, and we're givin' it to you in TWO COLORS. Technicolor craziness, people. (Actually, wait, i think that's more than just two colors....but just go with it.) Technicolor DREAMS. Pick your color, pick your choice, pick your video, pick your adventure. Just try not to die by way of intergalactic fireball. That's always the worst.

Oh, The Nerve!

Happy early Valentine's Day, losers!

I'm not calling you names because of the off chance you may be alone on the Hallmarkiest of holidays, because we all know you are never alone when candy is around (just ask my best friends "LUV U" and "4 EVER"). I'm bashing you all because you're currently reading intead of doing the one thing y'all should be doing — listening to love songs and wallowing in a sea of neverending thoughts about someone you love/d/will soon love.

And what's VD — oh sorry, that's something else that comes from loving — without an easy-listening playlist? Our pals Nerve.com asked us to contibute our favorite love song from the past year, and the one we plucked out of our brainlists is quite the doozy. We hope you enjoy, and check out the rest of the suggetstions from the fine people who contributed. That Mark Ronson tune has slowly crawled its way up the guilty pleasure ladder and ain't going back down any time soon.
