Couch Session #28: Grandchildren
Our first nighttime session, with the sun far down,
Was spent with a band from Philly who for us stayed in town.
The shades drawn down, the windows shut tight,
Curtains closing us off to the night.
The six boys came over, with a caravan of tools,
Instruments spread among themselves, haphazardly without rule.
There's so much going on in these videos, like a potpourri of sound,
And if you don't listen closely, some instruments might not be found,
Little riffs here, shakes there, mini-melodies tucked in each song,
Require more than one listen to make sure you're not gone.
If time waits for no one, not any of us folks,
And we are all everlasting, like a worn-in joke,
Time's just a constant, a flowing numerical stream,
Dangling from above like the sky in a dream,
Then these boys suspended it, in a number of ways,
Pulling us into their music's constant harmonic haze.
So let them wake you from your silent dream, as they sing and say,
And let Grandchildren show you their intoxicating ways.
